bring their herds into the park over lunchtime to visit the water sources. We saw thousands of cows.
It is just one topic which shows how challenging wildlife conservation is. We had many interesting talks with park officials; one of their main tasks is working closely with the local communities - who of course do not always have the same opinions, needs and desires as people interested in wildlife. We were impressed by the professionalism and dedication of Kenya's Wildlife Service - we believe the world ows them great respect - and thankfulness. In central Europe it is a major issue if there is a bear or wolf, in Kenya, there are thousands of much more dangereous animals - walking around peoples houses - outside National Parks!
